EDCOP in association with two local consulting firms, TCGI Engineers and Woodfields Consultants, has been awarded the Php 78.6 million contract for Construction Supervision for the Angat Water Utilization and Aqueduct Improvement Project , (AWUAIP))Phase 2. The project consists of:
- Construction of BNAQ-6(Phase 2), about 9.9kms of 3.3-meter diameter steel aqueduct and 3.7-meter diameter concrete- lined tunnels;
- Rehabilitation of the 5.5-km Aqueduct 5;
- Construction of interconnecting structures for Aqueducts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6.
A fourth component of the project, Implementation of Land Acquisition and Resettlement Plan, will be done by MWSS Asset Management following UDHA guidelines per Board Resolution 2007-090, i.e., payment of disturbance compensation/Financial Assistance.
The project is being implemented by the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS), a government-owned and controlled corporation responsible for water and sanitation in Metro Manila. Its operation was privatized in 1997 through concession agreements with Manila Water Company, Inc. (MWCI) for East Zone and Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (MWSI) for the West Zone. MWSS was likewise reorganized in two independent entities, the MWSS Regulatory Office charged with monitoring the performance of the concessionaires and MWSS Corporate Office, responsible for administration and management of retained assets, administration of existing loans, facilitating the provision of bulk water and development of new water sources.
The total duration of the construction supervision contract for AWUIAP Phase 2 is thirty-six (36) months.
