The Project is being implemented under a design and build contract. The new tunnel will be approximately 6.43 kilometers (km.) long. The works consist of (i) intake structure at Ipo reservoir, (ii) slope stabilization at intake structure, (iii) tunnel works, (iv) transition basins at Bigte; (v) interconnection of the new Tunnel 4 conveyance channel at Bigte (vi) provision of stub out to the future AQ7 (vii) slope stabilization at outlet structure.
DOHWA was contracted by the MWSS as lead consultant. EDCOP is engaged by DOHWA as sub-consultant.
The main tasks of the Consultant will be: (i) preparation, application and acquisition of ECC, Certificate of Precondition (CP) from the Indigenous People through the Free Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) Process (ii) review of detailed engineering design, contract supervision, including contract administration, technical and legal supervision on the construction site, contractor’s documentation control and verification, authenticating of payments for the contractor, and preparing reports for the contracting authority; and (iii) capacity building, specifically on gender awareness promotion and training, and implementation of the communication strategy, specifically with regards to livelihood opportunities and awareness of health related risks.
